Mr. Landry visited our school to present the students with a plaque recognizing their outstanding participation in the Take Me To Vote 2013 program sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women. Many students at Rosendale accompanied their parents to the Polling Booths in the November 2013 Elections. It is the intention of the Take Me To Vote program to encourage children to accompany their parents to the polls in the hope that it will inspire them to exercise their own right to vote when they reach voting age.

Mr. Smith combines his experience in the areas of writing, photography and sports to write children's books. He enjoys visiting schools and meeting the kids that read his books. He says that the children are an inspiration to him, and his hope is that he can plant a seed that they too can write and take photos as well as encouraging them to read.

Fourth Graders Produce
Ellis Island Play
As part of their study of New York State history the fourth grade students in Mrs. Meyer's class wrote, produced, directed and starred in their own play about immigration and the role of Ellis Island in the lives of many of the "tired, poor, huddled masses" who came to the United States "yearning to breathe free."

Opera To Go
Comes to Rosendale
Monday, February 25th Opera Saratoga's Opera to Go performed the story of PINNOCHIO in operatic style at Rosendale.
This musical adaptation of Carlo Collodi's book tells the story of the puppet, Pinocchio, and his quest to be a real boy. With music by Mozart, Offenbach, Donizetti, Pergolesi, Sullivan and Rossini the Cast of Characters took us on an adventurous musical ride.
Go to operasaratoga.org/education_operatogo.php to learn more about this company of young singers who bring fully staged, fully costumed operatic performances to more than 40 elementary schools each year.

We also matched older students with younger students so that everyone has a bus buddy.
Here are some pictures of us with our bus buddies, and also some of the ideas that we came up with about what makes the bus noisy and how we can fix the problem.

THANK YOU PTO!
A HUGE THANK YOU to the Rosendale PTO for
On Friday, October 5th Rosendale students were treated to two amazing assemblies presented by Dr. Quinton Quark of Slapstick Science.
The program entitled Much Work With Little Effort was an exciting science assembly where the students learned that with physics they can do anything. Hoisting 200 pounds over their heads, lifting 1000 pounds of classmates, or throwing an inflatable clown over Dr. Quark's head is simply a matter of understanding Kinetic Energy, Potential Energy, Friction and Simple Machines.
Here are some photographs of the thrilling experiments being performed:
