ROSENDALE'S EARTH DAY

AND

BEAUTIFICATION CELEBRATION

On Friday, April 20th students, faculty, staff and parents celebrated Earth Day by beautifying the school grounds. The beds in front of the school were all re-shaped and spruced up with weeds removed, new plantings and mulch added.

We were very lucky to have visitors from the Cornell Co-Operative Extension, The Environmental Clearing House, and The Schenectady Conservation District here to help us learn about Composting and Recycling. Students in the younger grades went on a Nature Walk and learned all about the plants growing around our school.

A big thank you to Girl Scout Troop 2502 for the donation that enabled us to purchase plants to beautify our flower beds. Thanks also to Felthousen's, Kulak's Nursery and Lowe's for donations and discounts which made our dollars go further. Thanks also to Starbucks, Bruegger's Bagels and Chipotle for keeping our adult volunteers supplied with refreshments.

It was an AMAZING EARTH DAY!

THANK YOU PTO!

Here are some pictures of us all hard at work!

SILENT WINGS

Live Raptor Program

bring

Birds of Prey to Rosendale

On Tuesday and Wednesday, March 6 and 7, we were all amazed by the awesome presentation of Birds of Prey brought to Rosendale by The Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York, sponsored by our amazing PTO. During each of four assemblies students and teachers were able to see live birds of prey up-close and to learn about the impressive adaptations and behaviors of these remarkable birds. Here are some pictures of the birds and the children.

Peaceful School Bus Route Meeting

On Friday, March 9 we held a Peaceful School Bus Route Meeting. Students met in groups according to their Bus Route and spent time working with their bus buddy on an acitivity that helped them get to know other students who ride their bus.

Also part of the assembly was a scenario written by Mr. Hughes' 5th Grade class about a bullying situation that might occur on the bus. Students were divided into groups - some were assigned the role of the Bully, some were the Bullied and some were Bystanders. With the help of adult facilitators the students discussed how their "person" felt and brainstormed ways the the "person" could have handled the situation differently.

Here are some photographs of the groups during their discussions.

Thank you Rosendale PTO
