Welcome to the web-page for the department of Health, Physical Education and Athletics. The health education and physical education programs derive from the New York State Learning Standards. All students must complete the mandated requirements in both Health and Physical Education in order to graduate.
Standard 1 - Personal Health and Fitness - Students will have the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and maintain physical fitness, participation in physical activity and maintain personal health.
Standard 2 – A Safe and Health Environment - Students will acquire the knowledge and ability necessary to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Standard 3 – Resource Management - Students will understand and be able to manage their personal and community resources.

The Niskayuna Central School District Human Education program is designed to help students:
1. Increase their understanding of their own attributes, values and attitudes, and how these impact their lives:
2. Increase their understanding of, and respect for, the attributes, values and attitudes of others;
3. Increase their self-reliance and decrease their dependence on outside influences;
4. Learn and develop skills that contribute to health enhancing behaviors over the lifetime;
5. Gain knowledge about, and respect for, mankind and his total environment.
Physical Education
The Niskayuna Central School District Physical Education Program should empower all students to maintain a healthy lifestyle through physical activity by providing opportunities for the development of motor skills and physical fitness. Physical Educations class will provide students with the necessary tools and knowledge to maintain a life long healthy lifestyle. Students should understand the components of physical fitness, the value of fair play in competitive activities and have the ability to locate wellness center(s) or opportunities in their community.
