On Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in the Niskayuna High School Little Theater, four of Niskayuna's rowers signed their National Letters of Intent to play Division I athletics next year. Read more at the Niskayuna School District website here.

Our modified and high school rowers competed in 19 events at the Head of the Fish and took home 7 medals and a Fish Head trophy! Competing against strong competition from across the Northeast, our modified rowers earned silver and bronze medals. Our Freshman 8+ finished first for the Fish Head! Our high school team won a pair of silvers and a pair of bronze medals. Congratulations to all rowers who competed so well. Thanks to our coaches and parents, some of who spent nearly 12 hours at the regatta!
Our high school rowers traveled to Worcester, MA for the 5th annual New England high school championship regatta on October 12. Our rowers competed on beautiful Lake Quinsigamond under a beautiful blue autumn sky. Our boys won gold medals in 4x and 2x along with sliver medals in the 4x and Varsity 8+ and Frosh/Novice 8+ (only 0.2 seconds out of first!). Our girls won silver medals in 4x and bronze in 1x, 2nd Varsity 8+. Detailed results are available on the Results page.
Congratulations to our boys and girls high school and modified rowers that earned eight medals at the 2014 Tail of the Fish Regatta! The weather was perfect for our high school boys to win gold in Frosh/Nov 8+ and 4x, Jr 4x - our girls to wing gold in Fosh/Nov 4x. Silver medals were won by Boys Junior 2x and our Modified boys and girls who combined to in the Mixed 8+ event. Bronze medals were won by Girls Junior 8+ and 4x. Trena Jones was reckognized at Niskaytuna High School last week as she signed a National Letter of Intent to row for Merrimack College. These letters are signed in the spring by athletes all over the country as they commit to their respective institutions and atheletic scholarships.

The New York State Scholastic Rowing Association (NYSSRA) recently announced the high school rowing teams and clubs recognized as Spring 2014 Scholar/Athlete Teams. Niskayuna students were among those honored.
Niskayuna Rowing's Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys teams, led by coaches David Buckner and Michel Gilbert, respectively, earned Scholar/Athlete Team status. Rowers honored are: Stephanie Acquario, Jill Armenia, Alexandria Cammarene, Elyssa Connolly, Julia Cutler, Aparna Dutta, Trena Jones, Precious King, Irene Kulbida, Gabrielle Lambeth, Rea Mittal, Sophia Mrazik, Greta O'Hara, Rachel Padula, Ashley Schingo, Julia Sinkus and Clare Struzzi; Noah Chaskin, Stephen Davenport, Reilly Duffy, Philp Fraterrigo, Kevin Koste, Michael Makutonin, Liam McGrinder, Matthew Mizbani, Jair Oballe, Colin Ryan, Gideon Schmidt and Kees Vandenberg.
