Redwall is another exiting book by Brian Jacques in the Redwall series. It was just as fun and action packed as Mossflower . Redwall is the sequel that follows Mossflower .
Again, Redwall takes place in a world where only animals live. Since there are no human characters and it is a fantasy I can't tell when the time period is. According to Jacques Redwall is around fifty years after Mossflower. The woodlands are safe from vermin and searats. Martin the warrior is dead and all the peaceful creatures of Mossflower have constructed a huge abbey called Redwall. The times are peaceful and all the abbey dwellers seem to be happy and contempt. Meanwhile far away from the abbey Cluny the scrounge and his army are planning to take over Redwall and rule the woodlands. Cluny, I think, is a little insane because he wants nothing more to kill creatures and have complete and total domination. Back at the abbey, a young mouse named Matthias is always so quick to take action and that worries the elders of the abbey since they want creatures to be peaceful. But, the old recorder mouse Methalusa thinks the abbey should have a defender. So, Methalusa and Matthias work together to find the sword of the mouse who freed Mossflower, Martrin the Warrior! But Matthias and Methalusa's mission becomes much more urgent when Cluny's army mounts it's first attack on Redwall. The abbey dwellers are able to fend off the attack because of the high abbey walls. So all they had to do was drop things on vermin. And that's when the fun begins!
Redwall was a great book filled with action! It kept me reading! For example, when one of Redwall's sentries dust flying up the road he reported it! The father abbot sent to creatures to greet them but stopped in his tracks when he saw a hole legion of searats coming straight for the abbey. The strong and tall abbey walls was what one the roaring battle for Redwall but that was only one battle...
I would strong recommend this book to anyone who loves intense action and is a good reader. This book was great and fun would be for all ages. I enjoyed and hope you will to.
