The Long Patrol is an adventurous book, also fantasy. The Long Patrol is also the sequel to Pearls of Lutra . I enjoyed this book and thought it was great. It kept me on the edge of my seat. You will like this book if you are a person who likes to read and likes to read a lot. This book has about 350 pages. It took me a while to read, but I enjoyed every bit of it.
The Long Patrol starts out at Camp Tussock. There, Tammo, a young hare, is wishing to be a Long Patrol hare. His father, unfortunately, is preventing Tammo from becoming a Long Patrol hare. His mother helps him and he sneaks away to become a Long Patrol hare. Far away from Camp Tussock, Damug sat with his brother. Their father is very ill and is close to dead and Damug is getting happier as his father gets sicker and sicker. Finally, once Damug's father dies, he is forced to fight his brother in combat. The winner, becomes ruler of all Rapscallions. Of course, Damug wins and he killed his brother. Damug was ruler at last.
At Redwall, the place is going hectic. Their south wall is sinking! The redwallers dig a tunnel ( mostly moles) and found out what is causing it to sink. They did some research and found out that the old castle, Kotir, was sunk, (You can read about that in Mossflower .) and Redwall was built over the ruins of Kotir. The wet ground from the flooding dried up, but now, the ground somehow got wet again and was causing the Abbey to sink. They venture down into the cave that they dug to find out what is down there. When they get there, they are encountered by a hideous monster. At Salamandastron, Cregga hears that Damug has gone inland and is heading toward Redwall. Cregga is getting outraged. She starts heading toward Damug. Tammo makes it to Redwall and meats new friends. Damug sends a threat to Redwall and makes a battle against them.
You can find this great new book in Van Antwerp library. Also look at any local book selling store or Craig School library. You can find out what they do with the sinking of their wall and who will win the battle. You can also figure out many more things, but you have to read this book. This book is his newest book and was made in March 1998. This book is probably his best book. Even if it is not, I think it is.
