The Face on the Milk Carton
by Caroline B. Cooney was an exciting tale.
Janie, the main character in the book, was chatting with her friends and looking at
the mysterious missing people on the milk carton , when she got a look at the face
and the dress of the person who was missing. It was like she froze in time. She started
having memories of people she didn't know at all. In her memories she was the girl
on the milk carton. She saw that she was only a little girl and that there was a
woman whom she kept walking up to. By then she was tired of having memories and knew
that there was something going on, but she didn't know what. So she searched through the
attic and found a box that had the name "Hannah" on it. That night she asked her
parents who Hannah was,and her parents revealed a story that was horrifying. She
learned that her adoptive parents were her grandparents and that they were the mother and father
of Hannah. Hannah had joined a group that believed in not eating and begging on the
streets. Hannah had felt that she had too many advantages in her life and that she
shouldn't have them. So, she joined this club. When Hannah had a child she finally learned
that she did not have a good life so she sent the child to her grandparents and her
grandparents moved far away. They never saw Hannah again.
But they did have Janie to take care of. So, Janie and her boyfriend drove to New
Jersey to find Janie's mother. There was only one name recorded of her mother's last
name when Janie got to the apartment she saw her brothers and sisters. But she did
not see her mother. If you want to know if Janie finds her mother then you'll have to
read the book.
