My favorite book this year was the book Weasel by the author Cynthia DeFelice. Our sixth grade class read this book as a group.

Weasel was a exciting and realistic novel. It was about a man named Weasel and a boy named Nathan. Weasel is a murderer, and he lives in the woods. When Nathanís dad was hunting in the woods that Weasel lived in, Pa fell into Weaselís bear trap. Weasel came over to Pa and took the gun and left Pa to die.

A man named Ezra came to Nathanís house to tell him that his Pa was hurt and that he was in his house. Ezra didn't have a tongue because Weasel chopped it off, so Ezra beckoned him to come with him. Weasel chopped off Ezraís tongue because he started to like someone that Weasel hated.

When Nathan was at Ezraís cabin, he had an encounter with Weasel. Weasel trapped him and tied him up. Nathan used a clever trick on Weasel and got away. Once Nathan got to Ezraís cabin he realized he should off killed Weasel when he had a chance.

The author made the characters in the book very realistic. She described the characters very well. She would say what the characters would say. She made you think that you were right in the book.

This book is a very exciting book by a great author. This is a easy book for sixth grade but a great book for a fifth or maybe fourth grade. I would give this book five stars out of five stars.
