The novel The Road Home was great. This novel was written by Ellen Emerson White. This novel was about a lady named Rebecca and the time she spent in Vietnam.
Rebecca was a nurse in Vietnam. She was very much into her work at the hospital. You learn that Rebecca has a lot of family problems at home, and really wants to reenlist because of these problems. Rebecca also has a boy friend in Vietnam, named Mike. Mike and Rebecca were really close, until Mikeís leg was blown off. After that, Mike didnít want Rebecca to go near him. After a few days in the hospital, Mike got to leave Vietnam, and go home. Mike doesn't say good-bye to Rebecca, so she is really upset. You read more about the troubles that Rebecca has and really does not want to face when she goes home. Finally Rebecaís stay in Vietnam is over. She has to go home.
At home Rebecca doesn't want to do anything or see anyone. She is very lonely. She stays up in her room for weeks. Rebecca finally faces the problems that her family has. Rebecca realizes that there is something that is missing from her life. She has to find Mike.
Ellen Emerson White did a great job describing the characters in this book. They came alive in your mind. She also did a great job with the personalities of the characters. They really seamed to fit the characters.
I really enjoyed this book and hope you do to. I give it a 10+. The Road Home was fun to read and it taught you a little bit about the Vietnam War.
