The best novel that I read this year was Mary Reilly. It is written by Valerie Martin. This book was a scary novel about a maid, Mary Reilly, and the doctor that she works for. The doctor, Dr. Jekyll, made a formula that would change him into a different man, Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekyll made the formula to change into Mr. Hyde, because he was dying. Changing into someone else, prolonged his life. Dr. Jekyll liked Mary Reilly, and had her do many favors for him, such as delivering letters in town. Mary became very suspicious of the doctor because he would only leave the house at night, and the letters that he had her deliver were about renting out a house in the middle of town. At night, she would see a strange man going into the doctorís side of the house. The man was Mr. Hyde.

Mary Reilly only figured out that the doctor was changing into Mr. Hyde, until the end of the book. Mr. Hyde was a bad man. He killed innocent people in town for no reason. When the doctor realized that he was changing into a man that killed people, he tried to stop changing into him. It didnít work. Mr. Hyde kept coming back and he was trying to take over Dr. Jekyllís body. Mary helped the doctor stop changing into Mr.Hyde. She disliked Mr.Hyde.

The end of this book is very exciting. I would not want to give away the surprise. You will have to read Mary Reilly for yourself. This is a great book for every kind of person. I would highly recommend it.

I would recommend this novel, because of itís excitement, and mystery. I believe that anybody would like this book.
