This is about a boy and his friends during World War II
who finds a machine gun in an old, abandoned German bomber. In Glagsgow, England, they hide this great machine gun from adult eyes for a long time until they make the adults suspicious. The plot of this book is that these kids wanted to get rid of the German bombers that bombed their area almost every night.
The major character in this book is a boy named Chas McGill.
His friends and he build an underground fortress to hide themselves from
adult and enemy eyes. Two of the friends live in the fortress, because of hate and loss of their families.
This book held my interest throughout the whole thing. It was
filled with action and adventure. There was a bit of mystery. This book
is an historical fiction book.
I chose this book to write a book review on because it is one of the best books I have read. It was descriptive and interesting in my mind. I would definitely recommend this book to some one who enjoys history or major world conflicts. Robert Westall books are great books to people who enjoy the subjects listed.
