One of my favorite books that I have read this year is the book Homecoming. This book was by Cynthia Voight. It was great book and very realistic.

This book is about four children who were abandoned by their mother in a supermarket in a town that they were not familiar with. Their mother had told them that they were going to visit their Great-Aunt Cilla, whom the children had never met. They did not know what to do, and they did not want to go to the police because they were afraid that they would be put in separate foster homes and never see each other again. They decided to walk the many miles to their Great-Aunt Cillaís house. They were going to have to walk over one-hundred miles to get there but they thought that it was the only thing to do.

The childrenís names are Dicey, who is thirteen, James, who is ten, Maybeth, who is nine, and Sammy who is six. All of them are very brave, and although they were always tired of walking, they stuck to it and never gave up, and that is a very important characteristic of all the children. This book held my interest because it was realistic, and they faced problems like any of us in the real world would have. They had to work together and cooperate a lot so that they could make money for food or find a way to get across a river.

The reason I choose this book as my favorite is because it really made me think about how you can do anything if you have friends or family do root you on. This is a very important lesson to me! The reason I would recommend this book to another student is because it will make you keep on reading until you finish! It is really hard to put down this book and it makes you want to read for another five minutes, and another five minutes...

If you are looking for a unforgettable book, Homecoming, by Cynthia Voight is the book that you should read!
