I just read a story by Ann Curry called The Book of Brendan.
The book is about a boy who meets a girl on the road. Now, the girl has the power to call upon flocks and flocks of birds, but not just any birds, talking birds who instantaneously come to her side when called upon. The boy is just a school boy who lives with monks along with other boys. Now one of the monks is friends with the boy and he writes a book called The Book of Brendan that he said he felt he was destined to write. On the book, he draws a white bird, a dragon, and a monkey. Then, one day the girl the boy had meet came in claiming she was nauseated. Along with her was her mother, father, soldiers, and a twisted looking man. Later, the boy finds out that the girl was not sick but came for help. The girl and her mother feared something was amiss. Then all of the sudden the twisted man puts a curse over every one except the boy, the girl, and the elderly monk. The sorcerer plans to take over. But then the creatures from the book come to life and takes to a place called the sea of faith. They find lots of adventure and excitement. So, I recommend this page-turner to anyone of any age.For it takes a lot of imagination to read this marvelous book.
