A book that I have read this year that is my favorite is The Giver by Louis
Lowery. I liked this book a lot because it was a very interesting book
and it had lots of suspense in the book. The part that makes this book
very interesting is the fact that the environment that the Giver lives is
in an Utopian community. Only the Giver knows the happiness and suffering
that is in an everyday life. The rest of the people in the community have
no idea what is going on. They live in a community where almost everything
is done for them. When you live in this community you don't have to worry
about being hungry because certain people prepare and give you your daily
meals. You don't have to worry about having pain because there is a medicine
which heals the pain in an instant. You don't have to worry about choosing
your own job because people decide which job that you get. You don't have
to pick out your future husband or wife because your family units are picked
out for you (you are only allowed to have two kids, a boy and a girl).
When you live in this community you don't have to worry about many things
but at the same time you don't get to have all the fun of making the choices
that you have right now and you won't all the fun of doing certain things
without making your own choices. For instance, you cannot have the fun
of driving a car because you are only allowed to ride a bike but that saves
you time in your life to focus on what you want to be, you won't have to
pollute the air with the fumes that come out of the car, and you won't have
the risk of being in a car crash. This is a very simple example of what
the group of elders want to do to this community.
These are some of the few descriptions of the book The Giver by Lois Lowery.
I hope that if you are convinced by this short description that this is
the book for you. Happy Reading!

My favorite book of this year was The Giver by Lois Lowry. I thought this
book was great a perfect 10. The description and story was the best. The
way that every thing was said in the book was interesting. This story takes
place in the way future. Everything there is totally different. There are
individual communities that all have different rules. One rule of this community
was you where not aloud outside after a certain time of night. You wouldn't
choose a job when you grew up. The elders of the community would choose
a job for you, for the rest of your life. The main character in this
book, is a boy named Joanas. He was assigned to work with the Giver. In
his first visit the Giver asks him to come each day. One day Joanas comes
and asked why he is working here. The Giver says that he has all the memories
from the past. He tells him he is to old to have them any longer so he
has to give them to Joanas. The Giver gives him a memory that Jaonas doesn't
understand. The Giver tells him that he was on snow in the winter on a red
sled. He doesn't know what red or winter is, because he has been living
in a very strange colorless world. Read The Giver by Lois Lowry it's great.
