My favorite book that I have read this year was The Dream Horse, by Virginia
Campbell Scott. This book was about a poor guy who is 16 and lives with
his grandfather and takes care of him. They live on a farm where they use
horses to raise for labor and racing. And then there is this girl who is
16 where she has a place to keep horse and really wishes to have a horse
of her own. Then the girl reads in the paper that there is a horse for sale.
She arrives at where the horse is and meets this shaggy old man and his
grandson. They show the girl the horse and it's a ugly horse but the girl
decides that even though the horse looks ugly she wishes still to have the
horse. The girls dream is to have the horse as a winner. So the girl and
the boy become partners and they fall in love all three of them.
The reason I have picked this book as my favorite is because it shows how
a relationship has it's ups and downs. It also shows how a girls struggle
to turn a horse into a winner really pays off in the end. This book describes
very well the facts and details what a characters are saying and doing.
The author tells points from every characters view.
I do and will recommend this book to anyone. It was a fantastic book!
Oh yeah you don't have to like horses to read this book.
