Jane Eyre
is an excellent classic, written by the well known author Charlotte Bronte. This
classic took place in the 1860's. It was about a young girl named Jane who is struggling
through life without a family. The main part of the story took place in a mansion
where Jane gets a job as a Nanny for a little girl. The master of the home Jane was
working at was in love with her. She to realized that she loved him back, and they
became engaged. During all this, a mystery was going on. Sometimes during the night, a strange woman would come down and try to murder Mr. Rochester (the owner of the
home Jane is working at). She also attempted to kill one of Mr. Rochester's good
friend. Jane starts getting suspicious, but she doesn't ask any questions. The
day of Jane's wedding with Mr. Rochestor she finds out the truth about who this woman really
is.
In the beginning of this book Jane is living
with her cruel Aunt. Both her parents had died, and she was forced into the hands
of her cruel Aunt. Her Uncle had been nice to her, but when he died everything changed. Her
Aunt never let her play with her children. Jane was very smart and she longed to
be in school, and learn. Her Aunt wanted to do anything to get rid of her, so she
sent her to a school. This school was horrible. Half of the time there wasn't enough food,
and nobody was every well dressed. But the worst thing about going to this school,
was the principle of the school. He was mean to all of the children in the school,
and his life seemed to only have one duty, this was making the children in his school
miserable. As Jane grew older she became a teacher in the school. But soon she
grows tired of this life, and decided to try to get a job as a governess. Within
a few weeks she was requested for a job. It is taking care of one little girl, in a big mansion
full of mystery. This is a very suspenseful
book, full of mystery and surprise. For example, when Jane falls in love with Mr.
Rochester, she doesn't think he likes her at all. She feels that she isn't good enough
to be his wife, because she is just a servant. Mr. Rochester also feels Jane doesn't
like him, so he invites a bunch of people over to come to his home. He also invites a beautiful young lady, that all the men fall for. He then pretends he is in love
with her , to see if Jane gets jealous. Jane soon thinks Mr. Rochester will be marring
the beautiful young lady. But one night when Jane is walking with Mr. Rochester,
he asks her to marry him. This is very surprising for both Jane and the reader,
because the author makes it sound like Mr. Rochester is going to marry the beautiful
lady. During this part of the book was when I really got into it.
I would definitely recommend this book, but you would have to be a good
reader. It had 456 pages, and had a lot of Old English in it. I learned a lot of
new vocabulary from this book. It was very challenging, and you would definitely
need a dictionary at hand! If you read this book you will definitely not regret it! This
book is available at a library near you!
