The book The Count of Monte Cristo
was a terrific book. It is probably because it is challenging, and the content was
good.
This book was written by a famous author named Alexandre Dumas. He also wrote the
book The Man in the Iron Mask
. The main character, Edmund Dantes, lives in France in the 1800's. He had just
become a captain at age 21 and was to be married. An hour before the wedding Edmund
was arrested on false charges. He stayed at the maximum security political prison
(Chateau Reef). There he stayed for 20 years until he escaped. He came to the isle of
Monte Cristo and found a huge treasure and declared himself the Count of Monte Cristo!
When Edmund got back home, he found that his fiance had married and had a child.
He also found out that his father had died of grief. As the count he decided to get back
at the men who framed him. If you want to find out what happened you'll have to
read the book. My favorite part is when the executioner hits the prisoner in the
right temple with a mace and, with the blood gushing out, slit the prisoner's neck and cut
open his stomach. The book has also an intricate web of stories in themselves.
One example is the boating company. Another is a man who murdered another in cold
blood and got away with it. This book is and can really be called a page turner. The Count of Monte Cristo
also had great detail, like the way that the cave looked when Edmund found the treasure.
I would really recommend this book to advanced readers. This book has over 1,000
pages and has adult literature. Also a lot of it is written in French. If you are looking for a challenge this really is the book for you.
If you like to read, this is the book for you. You can find it at your local library.
So keep reading.
