Johnny Tremain is a great book for those who like historical fiction. This book is about the Revolutionary War. Johnny Tremain is a boy whose mother dies when he is 14 years old. Before his mother died, he signed up with a silversmith as an apprentice. When his mother died, she gave him a silver cup that meant he was a member of the Lyte family. The cup signifies that he is related to the famous merchant Lyte. Merchant Lyte is very rich. After about a year or two Johnny had an accident with some silver he spilled on his hand all of a sudden the pot fell off the counter top and spilled all over his hand and crippled it so he couldn't work as a silversmith anymore.
Johnny's master said that he would always have a home here but his master was getting impatient and Johnny knew that he needed to get a job. So Johnny went out to find a job. Well his success wasn't much to be desired, but he did not find a job, nobody wanted a so called crippled boy who supposedly couldn't do anything. Then he was offered a job at a paper company running papers here and there, the other boy who worked there worked with his Uncle Lorne. So Johnny went on working there. I would to go on to tell you about the sons of liberty and how he became one but it would give away the ending.
Johnny goes on to help the secret group the sons of liberty. Also how Rab Johnny's friend who hired Johnny goes off to fight. I would like to tell you about all the other action but like I said it would give away the ending. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who likes historical fiction.
