The classic that I read and enjoyed was The Hounds of the Baskervilles. The book took place around the late 1900's, and the setting was in London, England. The two main characters in the book are Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.
The book was about a curse that lasted for centuries in the Baskerville family. The curse was started by Hugo Baskerville by hurting this young lady. The lady escapes from Hugo's home and then he sets his hounds on her. The hounds eventually the kill her. Around that time of the year, when the lady was killed by the hounds, the hound's spirit haunts Baskerville Hall where Hugo Baskerville lives. Sherlock Holmes and Dr.Waston's job is to solve the case of the Hounds of the Baskervilles.
A really interesting part in the book was when Dr. Watson looking around in a mysterious stone hut. While Dr.Watson was looking around, he heard foot steps that sounded like they were getting closer to the hut. Then, all of a sudden a creature jumps, right at Dr. Watson. The creature was Sherlock Holmes. Some major characters in the book are Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Their job in the book was stop the hounds from coming back to Baskerville Hall. How they stop the hounds from coming back is really eerie. The reason why this book held my interest was because of the suspense. The reason why the suspense held my interest was because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. The reason why this is my favorite book because, of the time period, the characters and the setting in London. My favorite character in the book was Sherlock Holmes. The reason why he is my favorite character because, he is so brave and smart.
I would recommend this book to another student if they like suspense and solving mysteries.
