The book I read was National Velvet by Enid Bagnold. I liked this books topic it was adventure.
I think it was a good book, because it had a lot of animals in it such as race horses. The story is based one a larg race called the Nationals it is a race where there are people from all over the world competing, but only men and boys were allowed to compete. Velvet, as a little girl, had a dream to compete in this race. As she grows older, she wants to race even more. Then she finds out she is going to get three perfect horses in an old man's will. They decided to enter her in a group of races that were local. she wins one race and then another. Her sister and brother who are older, plan to help her get into the nationals. Velvet goes along with the plan.
If you want to know the rest of the story, it is up to you to find out when you read this book. I would recommend this book because it has a great plot and a lot of animals or horses. I think the meaning of this book is that no mater who you are you can always do as good as you put your mind to. I think if you read this book you will enjoy it just as much as I did. If you like animals other then horses there is a dog in this book he is very funny and plays with her younger brother. This book is very good and has a great moral if you can find it. Try and read it.
