A classic that I would recommend is The Count of Monte
Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas. I only would recommend this book to
good readers becausesome of the concepts and words are difficult to understand.
If you are a good reader who likes a good book with an interesting plot
then this is the book for you.
In the beginning, Edmond Dantes is arrested for a crime he didn't commit.
He meets an Abbe in jail who teaches him literature, language, philosophy
and many other things. They also plan to break out of jail one day. Unfortunately,
the Abbe had a very strange disease and died befiore the plan could be carried
out. Before the Abbe died, he left Edmond instructions to find a great
treasure on the island of Monte Cristo. Edmond escapes by trading places
with the dead Abbe who was in a burlap sack that gets thrown overboard.
He makes it to the island of Monte Cristo and finds out there really is
a treasure (for he didn't think the Abbe was telling the truth when he was
first told about it).
This book is really good. The plot becomes so twisted it's very hard to
understand what's happening. An example of that is, Edmond rescues Albert
DeMorcef who is really the son of his love Mercedes. He also finds out
that the person she married was the same one who got him thrown in jail.
If you think The Count of Monte Cristo
sounds appealing take it out of the nearest library. I guarantee you will
enjoy it.
