Shared Decision Making --SDM
Mandate
Section 100.11 of the New York State Education Department's Comissioner's regulations requires districts to develop a plan for participation by teachers, parents and administrators in school-based planning and shared decision making.
The district's plan specifies the educational issues that are subject to cooperative planning and the manner and extent of the expected involvement of all parties. A copy of the district plan is available in the school office or in the district office.

Selection Process
Parents are selected in a well publicized, open application procedure whereby all interested parties are afforded an opportunity for consideration. Applicants may not be employees of the district. Term of appointment is two years except parents who are in the last year in the building, in which case they may apply for a one year term.
