Dear Sailor...
Iroquois Middle School
Niskayuna Central Schools
Niskayuna, New York (Upstate NY)
The children of Iroquois
Middle School of Niskayuna, NY have adopted the crew of the USS
CARNEY. Six Grade students of Carol LaRow's English class
have done an impressive job of providing support to sailors while
deployed to the Mediterranean. They have put together beautiful
letters to show that they know how important CARNEY's job is to
support our Nation. The letters were sent over the holiday
season, and really bolstered the crew's morale. These special
letters really let the crew know that they had not been forgotten
over the holidays. Many friendships have already been established,
and the crew of CARNEY is in progress of writing letters to the
kids, and in many cases, the correspondence will be ongoing.
Principal, David Crandall, and their teacher, Carol LaRow, have
a really great group of kids.

Niskayuna, is a town near Albany,
in upstate New York. The students have a tradition of adopting
sailors, have written to CARNEY in the past, and have been writing
letters to sailors for over 18 years. During Dessert Storm,
Niskayuna Middle School sent 2.000 boxes of cookies to pen pal
ships that were deployed in support of our great Nation.
We want to let them know that we appreciate the time and effort
put in to show us that they are thinking about us while we are
far from home.

Their message to us is:
Hey, Navy! Thanks for being
out there for us. We appreciate it!
