Sweetgrass

Jan Hudson

F/ Hud
 Sweetgrass Review
This story is about a Blackfoot Indian girl and her journey into womanhood. It's a great book to read if you want to learn about the lifestyles and customs of the Blackfoot Indians. For example, it tells about the Sun Dance, a traditional Blackfoot ceremony, and how the Blackfoot Indians do not eat fish. Since she's already almost sixteen, she should be married soon. Are her father and Almost-Mother ready to let her go? And if she does get married, will she marry Eagle Sun, her crush and old playmate? Who will her best friend, Pretty-Girl marry? And, when small pox comes her villages way, will she and her family survive? If you like reading about Native Americans and their customs, this is the book for you!
